Another New Beginning

It's going to be 2013 and something tells me that life is just about to get better. 2012 has been one of the best ones yet. I learned to appreciate life a lot more. The opportunities that 2012 has given me have been endless. I feel a little more confident as I learned to appreciate what my life and the world has to offer. This summer, I reconnected with old friends and made new ones. For two years now, I have learned to do better in school and remember what success really feels like. This summer gave me confidence and some direction. I'm graceful for the adventures that I have taken this year. From trying new restaurants and cafes with my roommates to visiting the Outback of Australia, there was nothing but a smile on my face. Disney, LA, New York, Seattle, Vegas and Australia. These are just to name some of the major ones. This is arguably one of the best years of my life.

The one thing I really learned this year is to sit back and appreciate. Whether it is nature or the relationships built with each other. Nature can be taken for granted so easily. We are often mesmerized by the new things we can have or making it to the top. It's good to want to be on top and accomplish. Working hard is necessary. But don't forget what's around you and what unknowingly keeps you going all the time.

It's cliche but the smallest things make life so much better.

To me, life is full of possibilities. Every year would not go by without a challenge or adversity. You'll get through it or you'll figure another way out. If not, its ok... start over with something new. Don't compare others adversity. Don't let it be the excuse that stops you from appreciating the world.

Go off the grid ( well, not the drinking part). Turn off the internet, press the off botton on your phone. Listen to some music. Go see something in nature that you wouldn't usually go see. Look for the sun and face it, close your eyes and take a deep breathe. The world is beautiful. If you have an idea, an aspiration, or a dream-- don't stop believing in it, be fearless and just go do it.

Thank you so much to my parents, family and friends for making 2012 the best one yet. I'm ready for you 2013.

Make it happen. 2013.

Ok, I'll stop now I sound like a pageant.

A moment

"Instead of wondering where you next vacation is, maybe you out to set up a life you don't need to escape from" -Seth Godin

Need to start learning from this quote.

Happy Mid Autumn Festival

“Beauty is a form of genius - is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. It is of the great facts in the world like sunlight, or springtime, or the reflection in dark water of that silver shell we call the moon.” Oscar Wilde

" Lazy Sunday"

Because we had nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon in NYC. So here it is...

Watch this if you don't know what we were trying to do..

SNL - Lazy Sunday by steveo_russianspy

Here it goes...

Lazy Sunday, wake up in the late afternoon
call Parnell just to see how he's doing
Hello? What up Parnz! Yo Samberg, whats crackin?
You thinkin what I'm thinkin? NARNIA! ...then it's happening!

But first, my hunger pangs are sticking like duct tape

Let's hit up Magnolia and mack on some cupcakes
No doubt, that bakery's got all the bomb frosting.

I love those cupcakes like Mcadams loves Gosling.

Two, no six, no twelve! Bakers Dozen!
I told you that I'm crazy for these cupcakes, cousin!
Yo wheres the movie playing? Upper west side dude!

Well let's hit up Yahoo! Maps to find the dopest route.

I prefer Mapquest! That's a good one too.

Googlemaps is the best! True that! DOUBLE TRUE!

68th to Broadway step on it sucker!

What you want to do Chris? snack attack, motherfucker!

The Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!
Yes, The Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!
We love that Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!
Pass that Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!

Yo stop at the deli, the theater's overpriced!
You got that backpack? Gonna pack it up nice.

Don't want security to get suspicious!
Mr. Pibb and Red Vines equals crazy delicious.

Yo reach in my pocket, pull out some dough
girl acted like she never seen a 10 befoe!

it's all about the Hamiltons baby
throw the snacks in a bag and I'm Ghost like Swayze.

Roll up to the theater ticket buying what we're handling,
You can call us Aaron Burr from the way we're dropping Hamiltons
parked in our seats, movie trivia is the illest!
What Friends alum starred in films with Bruce Willis?

We answered so fast it was scary...
everyone stared in awe when we screamed, "Matthew Perry!"
Now quiet in the theater or else it's gonna get tragic

we're 'bout to get taken to a "Dream World of Magic"

...with the Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!
Yes, The Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!
We love that Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!
Pass that Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia!

  Finally, it is complete.

Goodbye, Summer.

Last weekend marked the end of summer and I guess it would be an appropriate type to update so 1. I have updated in a while and 2. it is perfect timing to starting blogging again.

Since I have got to college, summers has been part uneventful and part awesome. It was usually classes for part of it and part traveling for the other. But, this summer...things have been awesome. Though I found myself mostly in one place (well, a really awesome place), it was awesome along.

I guess pictures are worth a thousand words so I guess this is how I will choose to close out the summer.

Caught up with old friends. At South Street Seaport

High Line Park

Chillin' in NH by the lake.

Made new friends! The booze cruise along the river at night!

 Birthday brunches!

and more sunday brunches.

At Yankees Stadium. Clearly dressed for the wrong occasion but it was awesome (besides from the pouring rain in the beginning).

Rooftop happy hours.

 Coney Island.

 Disneyworld for work.

Lazy Sunday post coming soon. A little more to come.

You've been good to me this summer, NYC!

Hello from the City

I have just realized the time between my posts have increased over time. Over the past 3 weeks, a few things have happened to me:

I temporarily live in New York City
I went on my first business trip in Dallas.
I am now an intern at a big firm and living the profession life for a few months.

These things don't sound that dramatic on paper but seriously, it has been hectic. From the day I got here, I have been going around now stop. I know have to wake up earlier than usual. There are happy hours after work (it feels so fancy) and dinner with friends. I now have a "work" computer with the highest security possible. By the end of this, my bag will probably break and my back will hurt like a bitch. But hey, can't really complain. I'm actually starting to get into the routine of professional life.

Who knew just exploring the city itself can be so fulfilling. I no longer want to sit in front of the computer all day and getting off 2-3 stops earlier and walk the rest of the way seems pretty awesome to me.

NYC definitely reminds me of home.

Old McDonald Had a Farm...

and so we went to Kandoori Farm.

My mother decided that it would be fun to get out of the city and get some fresh air. So, we went to a conservation center and farm in the new territories of Hong Kong. I actually went to Kandoori farm before when I was in 3rd grade for a school trip but I suppose things change after so long. There was defintely a lot more trees than in the city. The orchids and the butterflies were beautiful. The owls and the flamingos were also very awesome. It was also extremely clean for a farm and conservatory. We bought some fresh farm eggs which was pretty cool (I have yet to try some). Lots of greenery and unpolluted air. Too bad we didn't get to see too many animals. I chicken coop was fended off because of bird flu concerns but I did see a gigantic pig.

I guess the most exciting part of the day was when my mother let me borrow her dslr camera. I've been waiting to hold that puppy since she got it. And, I finally convinced her to let me use it for day. It felt good. It is actually quite sad that I enjoyed playing around with the camera more than looking at the plants at stuff. Sorry powershot, I still love you though.

Had to take a picture of the wild boar. Besides from the stuffed (dead? I know there is a word for it but I forgot) mascot at the X at Choate, I never actually saw one before. It was actually quite interesting...all it did was walk back and forth in the same area.

Doesn't this big look pregnant? Contrary to popular belief, it is a he and he is not pregnant. Just huge.

More to come. I'm so excited to play around with this photos. I feel like a kid who just got a bunch of new baseball cards (shhh...I do love my topps cards).

Lately...

A personal artist in the household. hehe.

  • I'm home but I have been a bit under the weather since I returned. The humidity and the heat really doesn't bode well.
  • Obsessing over the big bang theory. I can't believe I didn't realize how funny it was before.
  • I have been update with the results of dancing with the stars. I can't believe Katherine didn't win the trophy. Shes amazing.
  • Eating all the food that I could consume. If you ever want to join me for a delicious cup of hong kong style milk tea, let me know.
  • I got to play with my mother's dslr! ahhhh, I can't believe she let me mess with it! (An upcoming post to the farm will come soon) It felt good.
  • Shopping. I think its time to purchase some work appropriate clothing.

As We Go On...

As we go on
We remember
All the times we
Had together
And as our lives change
From whatever
We will still be
Friends Forever

I miss the time when I put that song on repeat. I suppose this is an appropriate occasion to bring it back. I shall explain my MIA in another post. But, this is really to more of a celebratory post. This post is dedicated to my awesomest and dearest roommate as well as friends who closed one chapter of their lives and opened another.

Congratulations Hang!
you did it, mumzie! I can't believe its been 2.5 years since I met you and time passed so quickly! Anyways, I hope that you found your 4 years of college fulfilling enriching. I know it hasn't always been easy for you but I'm really happy that you made it through! I'm extremely thankful for all the times that we had together. Thank you for being such a great friend and supporter! I'll say more in a card because it'll probably be extremely awkward to write it all out here. I'm really happy for you and hope that you'll have an amazing time in France in the fall.

and also...
CONGRATS NANCY, YANG and everyone else who graduated !
It's been awesome getting to know the both of you over the past two year or so. I hope your endeavors in the future will be a blast!

I have got a couple more pictures but I'm trying to clear up some of the spots and photoshop isn't really working with me at the moment. I also messed with some of the pictures because the sun was messing with the photograph. I'm desperately trying to figure out how to fix this problem. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

In the mean time, have a wonder rest of the week!

An Interesting Watch...

I think this is extremely interesting. Usually, I don't like to talk about my identity but I guess this opens up a lot of thinking for me. I feel like I have spent a great deal of time growing up with kids like these in primary and middle school. Somehow, I guess I find myself kind of being in their situation though my parents was never really there physically. Though I was born and spent a great deal of my childhood in the same place, I somehow find myself relating to the culture that is described in this documentary.

What an interesting watch.

And, One Last Thing...

the 2012 schedule is out! It only means one thing...the 2012 is just right around the corner. Its amazing to think how far time has passed, how the bad times have pretty much been forgotten (at least for now) and how everyone is ready for whats to come.

Bring it.

As the World Keeps Spinning...

Couple of things that has been happening in the (my) world lately:

Excuse my creeper face. lol

Hang lost her shoes on her way down. The shoe was never found. Check out her blog for a picture of it as it flies off. Its freaking hilarious.

I need to get this photo despite its poor quality. We need a picture of the sake. lol

  • I watched my friends jump off a plane. (Don't worry, they all survived). Unfortuately, I forgot to bring my camera so the quality of my images are quite low (It would have been difficult anyways even with my camera to capture the moment). Check out my friend Hang's blog for more details. She's got the legit stuff. Be sure to check out the picture of her shoe coming off. Its hilarious.
  • Attained a fabulous piece of paper also known as a driver's permit! This has been in the talks since I was 16 when I tell my friends that I want to drive to my math buddies house. Now...who wants to teach me how to operate a vehicle? I promise I'll be a good student.
  • Also acquired a wonderful CA ID in the interim so I don't look like a fool when I get carded. I sincerely apologize if I went out with you and I pulled out my passport but don't worry, you won't get glares much longer.
  • Visited the jelly belly factory. one word: sample! well, not all the samples tasted good...Who has tried boogers, barf and rotten egg beans? I have. Someone had to direct me to the trash can immediately after.
  • A "go big or go home" dinner at Kirala. Free sake also always does the job as well. Throwing hun-nets, hun-nets. (Well, not quite.)
  • This site is freaking hilarious. lol
  • Paperrrsss....that leads me to my next thing
  • When is summer getting here? 2 more weeks left of school
Happy Spring!
