So, I recently I have been enjoying lots of homemade food. Channeling my inner chef. Well... my roommate has also been really good to me and fed me with her delicious cooking.
Sinagon. Its a filipino dish. My roommate, Xuemin, made it. This is like one of the most delicious soup dishes. I get really excited when she cooks it. I love the sourness and tomato mixed together in the soup.
Hot Pot Night:
Last weekend, my roomate decided to celebrate the coming of winter but doing hot pot. It was quite delicious. Too bad we didn't have a portable stove.
Since we didn't have a portable stove so we can sit around and cook the food as we sat, we had to cook it on the stove. We first decided to eat around the stove but then it got tiring and really hot. Please excuse the messiness of the stove. I promise I'll clean it up. I'm not that much of a slob.
Thats the pot cooked! Delicious. Napa cabbage, bak choi, bean sprouts, beef balls, long stem Japanese mushroom and beef with a black pepper pork broth hot pot broth.
Enjoying the hot pot at the table. That chill sauce my roommate mixed together was great with the meat! Perfect thing to do on a cold night. Like what we do at home in the winter and enjoy time with family and friends as well all gather around. Spagetti Night:
My roommate made the sauce and we made squid pasta! It was my first time making it and I felt like a child again.
Making squids is rather simple. Just poke spaghetti through the franks.
Just pour the sauce right on top. It helps if your roommate knows how to make an actual pasta sauce not just straight off the jar. Yum
Clearly I was more concerned with the squid pastas. Look! It looks cooler when you see it in person.Mexican Night:
So, this was all me.
So, I decided that I would make my own guacamole in hopes that it would be healthier than getting it from a restaurant (yeah, the stuff at Chipotle breaks my heart). The thing is that I didn't have a blender but I still managed to get the job done. If you let it sit for at least a couple hours or overnight, the flavor definitely comes out more. It was rather simple. Easier if you own a blender.
Tonight, I decided to make tortilla chips. Another simple task and possible healthier? Just cut up corn tortilla and brush it oil both sides and sprinkle with salt. Shove it in the over for 10 minutes until golden brown. Still need to perfect them though. Turned out a bit brown for my liking.
So, I miss Taco Tuesdays at Rubios everyday because I really don't want to make the trip there on a weekday. I couldn't wait any longer so I made my own with the tortillas that I had. I used some of the guac that I made earlier. It make fish sticks taste a lot better.
I should probably stop with the food. Its late. its making me hungry and I shouldn't be.
Until Next Time,
