Classic Train Ride to Cuzco

The Andean Explorer to Cuzco. Took it at the back of the train when the train was turning. The spur of moment felt like I was climbing out of the train like in movies. lol
Well, the details of this journey are quite simple:
10 hour scenic train ride from Puno to Cuzco
looks like the the trains in the movies
watched Friday Night Lights
read books
fancy lunch and tea
folk music and dance
Beautiful landscape of peru along the way

But the experience was awesome. The andean explorer is actually featured in BBC's classical train rides documentary. I remember watching this episode of Chuck where they were on this fancy European train and I kind of felt like that the whole way through.

I guess some pictures will make it more interesting:

1. Boarding the Andean Explorer in Puno
2. An picture of my father on the train. What a classic atmosphere.
3. On the observatory deck at the back of the train. Such a cool feeling! I love the sound of the train.
4. Folk dancing and music on the train.
5. A town that we passed by. There were streets of stores that were along the track. You could literally reach out and buy something. Too bad that train didn't stop. What an interesting concept.
6. At the highest point of the journey. At 4200m outside train. The train has such a classic look.
7. Books, ipod, shades and camera (which isn't mine. lol) Thats all you need for a beautiful and serene train ride. What a classic carriage.
8.Pisco Sour. Peruvian alcoholic drink. happy hour. My mother and other folks enjoying themselves.
9. More folk dancing and music. Lovin' the Peruvian colors.
10. Group Picture (not quite) at La Raya. The highest point of the journey. So many markets!
11. Just for the kicks. Rockin' it with my mother with Peruvian folk music.

Now that we've arrived an the Inca heartland, I'm ready to get right into it.

Toodles,
j

p.s. this hotel room is so creepy. i know its called hotel monasterio so it has some sort of historical context but this small room is just filled with at least 5 creepy ancient pictures. its really creepy me out ( as you can tell by the number of times I used creepy in just 2 sentences). Perhaps I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. Classical hotels are no nos for me.
