Hola from Peru!

We got into Lima yesterday morning. Had a mishap with my phone and extremely lucky and grateful that my phone was returned to me (even though I'm planning to get rid of it in about a month). I left it on the plane and my father was not optimistic that they were find it and return it to me. We didn't do much. It was pretty much getting adjusted to the time and eating. Went to a really fancy restaurant called Astrid and Gaston. It was fusion Western and Peruvian Food. Went to claim my phone in between then. Got ripped off by cab drivers. Interesting how there is no meters on the taxis and how Peruvians are willing to accept american dollars almost anywhere. Went back to the hotel and relaxed. I'm really loving this hotel room. lol I probably took 3 washes (2 showers and a bath) over the course of less than 24 hours. wow.
For dinner, we went to a restaurant called El Senorio de Sulco. It was Peruvian food. Not quite sure whether it was authentic or not since there were plenty of tourist there. But we had some traditional Peruvian dishes. We had a platter of starters. The sweet potatoes and tamales were bomb. Not quite sure how I talked my dad into having tamale since its got carbs in it. But it was good. I love the corn they serve here. They serve it almost every meal. Its simple but delicious. I had a cebiche dish for dinner. It was pretty much raw fish (or seafood) drenched in lemon and sour sauce. But, the best part is they serve it with corn and sweet potato. I really like simple boiled vegetables. lol

so this is day 2 in Peru... (which I'm going to put with pictures)
1. A piece of pottery from the Museum of Rafeal Larco Herrera. Peruvian pottery that were made during the Pre-Inca period. There were thousands of them and showed the way of life and the beliefs of the people at the time.
2.Practicing my photography skills. lol. The streets of Peru.
3. Outside the Monestary of San Francisco. Under the cathedral are layers of burials.
4.In the middle of this alley is a postal office so Peruvians sell different types of Peruvian cards, postcards and stamps along the alley.
5. Chica Morada. Peruvian drink. Its made by boiling purple corn and with a hint of lemon. It taste like the sugar cane drink. Good for health (high blood pressure) and tasty!

Thats it for now! Off to Arequipa tomorrow morning!
Ciao!
